Ylang-Ylang (Exfoliating Wash and Serum): This subtly scented exotic flower oil carries a myriad of health benefits. Ylang-Ylang oil is extracted via steam-distillation from the yellow orchid-like flowers of the Cananga Odorata tree (found in the rainforests of Asian & Southern Pacific Islands). Ylang-Ylang has been used to reduce the psychological effects of depression, anxiety and stress, whilst inducing a sense of calm. It has also been used to alleviate the skin condition of seborrheic eczema.

Lavender (Exfoliating Wash and Serum): The Lavender Essential Oil in Gnarly Joe® Anti-Ageing Night Time Recovery Oil is sourced from Bulgaria (due to the perfect growing climate and soil conditions), and is extracted from the flowering tops of the plant. Lavender has unique therapeutic qualities which can help induce sleep and relaxation, and help balance emotions. Research suggests that Lavender may be useful in treating anxiety, insomnia, depression and restlessness.

Use all three treatments every night before going to sleep. The first step, is to wash and exfoliate your face to remove dirt, grease and blockages from your pores. This stage also lifts dead skin cells, revealing fresh new skin underneath, which can then be hydrated, plumped, firmed and moisturised.

100ml Night Time Recovery Exfoliating Face Scrub: You won't need to use much, and a little will go a long way (which means that this 100ml bottle will last a long time). First, shake the bottle vigorously, to ensure that the powdered Jojoba grains haven't settled. Wet your face with tepid water. Pour just a small (five to ten pence-piece-sized), dollop into your palm. Rub your palms together and then distribute the exfoliating wash around your face evenly, to form a rich lather. Now use your fingertips to work the exfoliating wash (and Jojoba grains), into your skin. Massage your face gently for two minutes. This will allow the finely-powdered grains to gently peel away old, dead skin, revealing fresh new skin underneath. Rinse off throughly with warm water, making sure that all traces of grains have been removed. Gently pat your face dry with a clean towel.

50ml Night Time Recovery Anti-Ageing Face Moisturiser: Shake the bottle before opening. This moisturiser is concentrated so you only need to dispense between 2-4 drops into your hand. Rub your palms together to gently warm the natural oils before applying evenly to your face. A little goes a long way and you won’t need much, which means that this small, powerful 50ml bottle should last a long time.

The plant oils within this moisturiser are thick and you may find it a little greasy on application. It will therefore take longer to absorb into the skin than traditional moisturisers. The moisturiser works throughout the night whilst you sleep, penetrating the skin membrane and hydrating and nourishing your cells from within, whilst your body is naturally in optimum ‘repair mode’.

10ml Marine Gel Eye Serum: Shake the bottle to coat the bottom of the roller ball, then tip the bottle upside down and apply a few swipes of Marine Gel under each eye. If needed, you can gently blend the serum in using your third finger (the third finger is your weakest, and therefore creates less strain and pull on the delicate, thin skin surrounding your eyes). It's better to load a little more serum around the eye, as it will have the entire night to absorb, and go to work hydrating your under-eye area whilst you sleep.

The plant-based ingredients are gentle enough to use multiple times per day, whenever you need to introduce moisture and give life back to tired eyes.

Exfoliating Face Scrub: Some facial exfoliants contain pumice grains, or crushed seeds, which have small, sharp edges. These can damage your face and leave microscopic tears on your skin, especially in sensitive areas around the eyes, where your skin is thinnest and more prone to wrinkling. Other exfoliating products contain micro-beads, which are essentially small particles of hard, rounded plastic. These get washed into our oceans after use, and are harmful to marine life. That's why Joe only uses Jojoba grains to exfoliate skin gently, and naturally.
